About ELEX

The U.S.-Russia English Language Exchange (ELEX) is an exciting two-week program that brings English language teachers, education leaders, and innovators from Russia to the United States to explore new ideas, gain hands-on experience, and connect with fellow educators.

Participants attend major international education conferences, take part in interactive workshops, visit U.S. schools and universities, and experience American culture firsthand. Along the way, they discover fresh approaches to teaching English, explore innovation and entrepreneurship in education, strengthen their leadership skills, and build professional connections that last well beyond the program.

In summer 2027, ELEX will offer an exciting exchange opportunity focused on educational entrepreneurship (Edupreneurship) and innovative approaches to English language education. Through engaging professional development activities, interactive workshops, visits to U.S. educational institutions, and cultural experiences, participants will explore fresh ideas, discover innovative practices, and gain insights into the U.S. education landscape. The program aims to inspire educators to turn creative ideas into action, expand their professional networks, and bring new perspectives and opportunities to their educational communities in Russia.

English Language Education and Innovation

Participants will explore emerging trends, innovative teaching practices, and educational technologies that enhance English language education. Activities will encourage creative approaches to teaching, learning, and educational problem-solving.

Professional and Institutional Connections

Participants will engage with U.S. educators, education leaders, entrepreneurs, and institutions through professional visits, workshops, and networking opportunities. These experiences will foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and lasting international partnerships.

Leadership and Educational Entrepreneurship

Participants will strengthen their leadership skills and explore entrepreneurial approaches to education, including developing innovative ideas, educational projects, and initiatives that address real-world challenges in English language education.

Cultural Immersion

Participants will experience American culture through cultural activities, visits to historical landmarks, and interactions with local communities. These experiences will deepen their understanding of U.S. society and encourage meaningful cross-cultural exchange.

Who We Are Looking For

ELEX seeks motivated English language educators, education leaders, and innovators who are eager to explore new approaches to education, develop professionally, and share their experiences with their communities in Russia.

ELEX considers the following factors when selecting exchange participants:

Application and Authenticity

Applications are evaluated based on the applicant's personal statement, resume, and other required materials. We want to hear your authentic voice, understand your experiences, and learn about your professional goals.

The use of artificial intelligence to generate written responses, essays, or other application content is strictly prohibited. Applicants found to have submitted AI-generated written content will be disqualified.

Motivation and Professional Goals

We seek applicants who demonstrate genuine curiosity about the U.S. education system, a strong commitment to professional growth, and clear goals for applying what they learn. Applicants should explain how the exchange aligns with their professional interests and future plans.

Leadership and Initiative

ELEX values applicants who demonstrate leadership, initiative, and the ability to inspire others. This may include leading educational projects, mentoring colleagues, developing innovative programs, or contributing to their professional communities.

Educational Innovation and Entrepreneurship

We encourage applicants who are interested in innovative approaches to English language education, educational technology, and entrepreneurship. We particularly value individuals who can identify educational challenges, develop creative solutions, and turn ideas into meaningful initiatives.

Sharing Knowledge and Impact

Participants should demonstrate the ability and commitment to share their exchange experiences with colleagues and professional networks in Russia through workshops, presentations, collaborative projects, or other educational activities.

Interest in U.S. Education and Cultural Exchange

We look for applicants who are interested in exploring American educational practices, institutions, and culture, and who are open to exchanging perspectives with U.S. educators, education leaders, and innovators.

Previous U.S. Exchange Experience

For exchange participants: Applicants who have participated in a U.S. exchange program within the past seven years are not eligible.

For Group Leaders: Previous U.S. exchange experience is required, along with experience participating in or collaborating with Regional English Language Office (RELO) initiatives. Previous ELEX participants are not eligible to apply as Group Leaders. Additional eligibility requirements and responsibilities are outlined on the respective cohort pages.
